What Are Some of the Uses of AI You’ve Already Seen Implemented in Healthcare?

AI is a big field in the world of healthcare. It feels as though there is a new theory on the mass potential of AI in (insert field of choice here) every. single. day. But what is actively being done right now? What organizations and fields are using AI? What sort of tasks is it being asked to do and is it doing it well? In the search for answers, we pulled aside some of our most knowledgeable members of the Healthcare IT Today Community at the recent HLTH Conference to get their experiences with AI in healthcare. We have compiled their answers in the video down below!

Dave Ross, Chief Technology Officer at Health Catalyst – I think more modern use of AI includes two main things that we’re focused on. One is personalization. We do patient engagement, and consumer engagement, and we’re deploying AI models to understand the best way to engage people. Additionally, AI is working for us in our tech-enabled management services business. We’re able to take resources from our healthcare provider customers and supercharge them with Generative AI to perform common workflow administrative tasks that otherwise would be very difficult and time-consuming.

Ritesh Patel, Senior Partner, Global Digital Health at FINN Partners – I’ve seen rows, and rows, and rows of AI implementation. Some of them are, you know, ‘Okay, really? Do you do that?’ But the ones I’ve seen that are really good are very much focused on efficiency and back-office workflow. A really good one I saw yesterday, was how the AI could basically look at the entire chart of a patient and then give a summary to the doctor.

Isabel Hines, Senior Director of B2B Marketing at Oshi Health – I think one of the things as we are expanding nationally are trying to address is there are a ton of relevant models that have been really localized for so many years. The leading academic medical centers in the country have these multi-disciplinary GI models that use behavioral health, that use dieticians, but a lot of that hasn’t been traditionally reimbursed.

Huge thank you to Dave Ross, Chief Technology Officer at Health Catalyst, Ritesh Patel, Senior Partner, Global Digital Health at FINN Partners, and Isabel Hines, Senior Director of B2B Marketing at Oshi Health for taking the time to come speak to us! And thank you to everyone reading this article and watching this video! We could not do this without all of your support. What are some uses of AI you’ve seen already implemented in healthcare? Let us know in the comments down below or through social media. We’d love to hear from all of you!
