There is no topic in healthcare information technology hotter than artificial intelligence – especially generative AI, the technology behind applications like ChatGPT.

HIMSS knows that and dedicated an entire day to it at its recent show – the Machine Learning & AI for Healthcare Forum at HIMSS23 in Chicago this past month. The moderator of the forum was David Metcalf, director of the Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab, or METIL, at the UCF Institute for Simulation & Training.

For this episode of HIMSSCast, we asked Metcalf to offer his perspective on the AI forum, so listeners who may not have attended can hear some of the top takeways from the event.
