Riding on .NET technologies, American company AccuSoft and its Japanese distributor Proton, are now selling ImageGear and DICOMGear. Both are similar medical imaging software SDK for DICOM developers to allow them to build solid medical imaging applications.
DICOM is a format which is commonly used to transfer and store medical images and the DICOM SDK allows developers to convert all the popular image formats to and from it.
It also allows reading and writing PDF documents, TWAIN, ISIS image acquisition- and has barcode recognition, OCR (Optical Character Recognition), ICR (intelligent Character Recognition) and OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) built in.
"It can be used in other fields as well- not just medical. Both Hitachi and NEC have utilized it."
ImageGear now supports 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems like Microsoft Vista.
