In 2005-2006, the Goldfields Esperance GP Network became Australia's only reference site to test, measure and demonstrate the benefits of connecting healthcare providers via a high-speed converged VPN. The project is now the sustainable GoldHealth Network and involves the establishment of a regionwide shared electronic health record.
