The Blood Bank module should be used for responding to the operating, procedural , inventory control and reporting demands of the Laboratory. The facilities and configurations should be in accordance with accreditation standards
The Donor Management system should maintain details of all donors and for recalling donors as required by the hospital.
Blood Bank module should help blood bank personnel manage their department more efficiently by integrating donor, unit and patient information ; flags abnormal results , reports test and transfusion results , minimizes product waste , compiles statistical reports, incorporates rules when recording and testing , generates turnaround time and workload statistics, and capture charges.

Dietary

Provide ability to notify Dietary Department of specific diet orders , admissions , discharges and transfers , and maintain adequate inventory of food items.

House Keeping and Laundry

A sub module is needed to help the Hospital schedule House Keeping activities and follow up on incurred cost and progress of work.

Laboratory Information System

The module is required to be fully integrated with the hospital information system and to include control on laboratory workflow from requisition and specimen collection and processing to results reporting. This includes the services, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank etc…The linking of the hospital information system with special laboratory equipment is required
The Laboratory Modules should manage the bulk of the administrative tasks involved in the Hospital . The system should enable laboratories throughout the Hospital to streamline the processing flow of patients’ specimens, flag abnormal test results , display result trends and monitor quality control.
Workloads statistics are needed to measure the work effort required to perform tests.

Laboratory Information System - II

Chemical Pathology , Cytology , Hematology , Histology , Microbiology , and Serology
These Modules should manage the bulk of the administrative tasks involved in the Hospital and freeing staff to concentrate on patient activities. The module should provide all of the efficient, comprehensive functions for specimen management, result and statistical reporting that the laboratories require while being flexible enough to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

The facilities that should be provided and the versatility with which they may be configured and used should make the system a significant benefit to laboratory information management in accordance with accreditation standards.

Library

A Medical Library module is needed in the Hospital to manage and control the acquisition, circulation and cataloguing of the various references and books of the hospital.

Maintenance Control

The Hospital needs a Maintenance Control Module that will stream line maintenance and regulatory functions. The system should offer the capability of prioritizing tasks, assign work , based on the availability of necessary parts and labor, and analyze equipment failures in order to implement appropriate preventive maintenance measures.

Microbiology

General Microbiology application should improve the processing of microbiology specimens in the Hospital. Integrated with the entire Hospital Information System, the application should be equipped to handle work for multiple laboratory sections , including Mycobacteriology , bacteriology , mycology , parasitology , virology , serology.

Order Entry / Results Reporting

The Module is required to include online communication of physician orders, and patient information between nursing and ancillary departments. Patient charges should be generated upon confirmation of order.

The result reporting function is required to allow users to communicate with laboratory, radiology and pharmacy
The Order Results Management module allow provider’s orders for patient services to be entered and electronically transmitted from the point where the order originates to the point of patient services thus minimizing delays , eliminating lost paper , and making information accessible to other providers. Order entry includes pharmacy dispensing for inpatients and outpatients.

Pharmacy Information System

It is required to be a pharmacy information system to include : medication administration record, patient profiles, I.V. and TRN tables, medication charges, inventory control, automated admissions and reporting capabilities.
It should help pharmacists to process orders , check drug interactions, maintain inventory levels, check lab test results, create order rules, and comply with government regulations
The Pharmacy module should allow for the setting up of drug formularies, dispensing prescriptions, production of labels and comprehensive reporting for patient profiles and stock consumption. The module should be integrated with the stock control management module.
Furthermore, the Pharmacy module should help pharmacists across the Hospital, process orders, maintain inventory levels, check drug interaction, check lab test results, create order rules and comply with controlled substance regulations

The Hospital may define charge formulas to control percent mark-ups, minimum charges, and handling fees.
